1. Kashmir Honey
This Amber coloured, velvety honey with the most pleasant aroma comes from the valleys of Kashmir. This honey predominantly contains the nectar of the Acacia tree found in the Kashmir valley. Beekeepers harvest this honey from the beehives of the Apis Mellifera species of bees.
Every year during the months of May and June this honey is harvested and is available for limited time periods only.
When we started Honey & Spice we saw that Kashmir honey was primarily exported out of India and was not available for Indian consumers because of its high demand abroad. We started procuring this honey at a higher rate to make it available to the Indian consumer. Today we are proud to say that it is one of our most in-demand product.
2. Tropical Blossom Honey
Our Honey season begins with the team travelling to remote locations to taste, test and procure the freshest batches of honey. One such recent trip was to the western Ghats in Karnataka near Chikmagalur, the famous Coffee belt of Karnataka. Here we met our youngest bee keeper Aju George who has his bee boxes spread across the forests and farms in this region.
He says, the bees collect the nectar from the tropical plants of this region like Mangoes, Arecanuts, Cashews, Papayas, Coconuts and many other forest flowers.We opened these bee boxes which were filled with Honey comb and was overflowing with the freshest Honey!
